The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was established in the year 2008 with an intake of 60 which was subsequently raised to 180 over a period of time. The department is presently offering 4 year B.Tech program in ECE. Since the inception, the founder Principal, Dr.Y.V.Narayana himself leads the department with his visionary administration.

The department has good infrastructural facilities and has full-fledged laboratories like Electronics Circuits and Devices (EDC) Laboratory, Switching Theory and Logic Design (STLD) Laboratory, Analog Communication Laboratory, Electronic Circuits Analysis (ECA) Laboratory, Pulse and Digital Circuits (PDC) Laboratory, Linear IC’S Applications (LICA) Laboratory, Micro Processor and Micro Controller (MPMC) Laboratory, Digital Communication (DC) Laboratory, Digital Signal Processing Laboratory, VLSI Laboratory, Microwave And Optical Communication Laboratory, Research Projects Laboratory equipped with adequate state of the art and latest softwares.

The department not only has highly qualified, experienced and dedicated staff members but also dedicated technical and non teaching team. In view of enhancing the teaching standards, the staff members are highly encouraged to participate in workshops, conferences and refresher courses.

The department has student chapters of professional bodies like IEEE, IETE and college level ISTE, which conduct various student technical activities. The Department has been producing consistently illustrious Engineering graduates of higher caliber who occupies prestigious place in academic and industrial fields. Dr. K. Kanthi Kumar, who has an overall experience of 16 years, in which 16 years in teaching and 11 years in research, is currently rendering his services as HOD, Department of Electronics & Communication, in Tirumala Engineering College. He was awarded doctorate for his research in the area of ‘Wireless communication and Networks’ from JNTUK, in the year 2019. He completed his M. Tech from Bharath University, Chennai in 2005 and graduated in ECE from Nagarjuna University in 2002.
He started his career as Assistant Professor in the department of ECE, at Newton’s Institute of Technology, Macherla from 2005 to 2007 and from 2007 he worked in Vidya Vikas Institute of Technology, Hyderabad as Associate Professor till 2012. Since 2012, he worked as an Associate Professor and I/C HOD – ECE at Holy Mary Institute of Technology & Science, Hyderabad. Besides, he served as NSS Program Officer from 2017 to 2020 in the same institution.
His research interests are Wireless Communication & Networks, Signal Processing, Network Security, Computer Networks, and Image Processing. To contribute his knowledge in research, he has published 32 research papers in various National Journals including SCI and Scopus Journals in addition to 7 International conferences. He participated in more than 15 FDPs, 25 Workshops and many Seminars. He guided more than 25 PG Projects and 50 UG Projects and organized various FDPs, Workshops and Online Quiz Programs. He has been the life member of ISTE, IETE, IEAE, IEANG, CSI, IARA and IAE.

Mr.Jagadeesh Thati has been working as an Associate Professor and NBA Coordinator in the Department of ECE of this college. He received the Best Teacher award from Tirumala Engineering College in 2012 and 2019. He has worked as a dasa5 developer in Dasa Control systems AB Hammerdalsvgen 3, SE-352 46 Vxjo, Sweden. He did his MS from BTH, Sweden, and a master’s in M. Tech (Signal Processing) from J.N.T.U, Hyderabad. He is presently pursuing research at the National Institute of Technology Rourkela. He has published 23 international journals, eight international conferences, and two Books. He has professional memberships in IETE and ISTE. His areas of Interests are Signal Processing, Digital Image Processing, Computer Vision, Neural Networks and Nano Technology. He has been appointed as a reviewer for various journals.

Department Goals

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Tirumala Engineering College, overall goals of the Department are broadly related to its three missions of Instruction/ Learning, Research/Innovation, and Outreach/Engagement. Effective creation and transfer of technical knowledge and imparting learning skills to the next generation of The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering students is our primary goal. Through research and innovation, we not only advance knowledge but also enhance classroom instruction and the overall undergraduate education and learning mission. The following is the list of short-term and long-term goals are:

Short-term Goals

• To develop learning material for the advanced subjects.
• To organize training programs on advanced technologies and software tools.
• Students in the final year pass percentage should be more than 90%, and to achieve 100% placements with at least 50% placements in core companies.
• To encourage all the faculty members and the students to publish their papers in reputed journals with good impact factors.

Long-term Goals

• To encourage all faculty members to register for the Ph.D. program, thereby increasing the doctorates in the department.
• To build & promote teams of experts in the upcoming specializations.
